In honor of International Women's Day we would like to share some of our favorite female businesses and introduce the fabulous gals behind them.
Slow North intentionally craft all-natural, botanical products made to complement whole living. A family business, Slow North emerged from the belief that all home goods, whether luxury or necessity, should be made with clean and safe ingredients.
“The impetus for creating Slow North's line of plant-based candles was the birth of our first son in 2015. While pregnant, we became even more aware of just how many products in our house contained mystery concoctions of synthetic chemicals – some of which are not required on ingredient listings. We became increasingly unsettled.
We searched for alternatives and recognized a need for well-designed, naturally healthy candles on the general market. Motivated to create products that boasted all ingredients honestly and with integrity, we began experimenting with candles that we would feel good about burning in our own home.” Michelle Simmons, Founder

The fundamental belief of Lifetherapy is that intentional self-nurturing has the power to ignite positivity within us. When we change our mood, we change our perspective … and the way we show up in our lives. We know that a candle, or a cozy sweatshirt, or bubble bath can’t change the world. But we also know that they can boost your mood. And sometimes, just a few minutes of taking care of yourself is what you need to show up for the rest of the day.
“I am a mother of two grown children, a survivor of fifteen surgeries, and a female entrepreneur of over 30 years. I saw the need for self-care products long before I heard the phrase, certainly not knowing it would become the industry it is today.” Lynette Lovelace, CEO and Founder

January Labs is committed to developing powerful formulas that give your skin a healthy glow by continuously building and protecting your skin barrier – the primary offense and defense to beautiful skin. We believe that keeping your skin in top condition, stimulated for cell turnover and in the proper pH balance is the key to a healthy, radiant complexion. Our products are free from sulfates, parabens, fragrances and other harmful additives.
“Through my professional career in product development for a leading national skincare brand, as a licensed aesthetician and an avid consumer of skincare products, I began to see how the skin care industry has failed us with “quick-fix” products, the use of toxic chemicals, fillers and over-complicated skin care regimens that are not only expensive, but ineffective. I saw a genuine need for simpler, purer products with much greater transparency about their ingredients and that’s how January Labs was born.” - January Olds, Founder

We believe food is more than just what’s on our plates— what we cook and eat reflects our unique styles, identities, and values. We’re on a mission to connect and celebrate people who love food —to cook it, to eat it, to learn about it, to share it.
“Pineapple Collaborative started as a simple potluck dinner with our friends in 2015. At the time, brands everywhere seemed to be on a mission to “build community,” yet we never really felt welcome. So we decided to start the kind of community we wished existed and to show up where it counts—in your kitchen, online, and in real life.”

THE GOOD PATCH
The Good Patch offers a variety of wellness products and patches for life’s common ailments. We use tried-and-true ingredients that are plant-based and 3rd party tested for purity and quality.
Longtime friends Betsy Scanlan, Kelly Brock, and David Nicholson created The Good Patch with one simple idea in mind: when the people around you feel good, life is more beautiful. The company came together in 2017 when David and Kelly, owners of award-winning spas, and Betsy, an accomplished advocate in the hemp industry, all met for coffee one morning to talk wellness and the power of plant-based ingredients. Combining each of their past expertise in the wellness industry, The Good Patch was born.
